Blended learning: definition

Blended learning combines, in one programme, online time (videos, e-learning, virtual classes) with in-person or on-the-job time.

In practice

The idea is to put each piece where it works best: theory and reminders online, at the learner’s pace; practice, discussion and assessment in person.

A sample programme

  1. Before: a two-minute video on safe lifting, watched at home;
  2. During: the hands-on session at the workstation, with the trainer;
  3. After: two one-minute reminder videos, on day 7 and day 30.

Microlearning, LMS, forgetting curve.
