Turn a web page into a training video: an address is enough
A lot of training content already lives online: your help center, official guidance, a regulator’s page. With EducPilot, a web address becomes a project document, read and cited like a PDF.
2 min read
This page describes what happens when you add a web page as the source of a training video, and when it does not work.
What you can add
In one sentence: the address of a public http or https page, up to 2 MB, in HTML, plain text or PDF.
| Accepted | Not accepted |
|---|---|
| Public pages: help centers, official guidance, articles | Pages behind a login (intranet, customer area) |
| Online PDFs (a manual, an official guide) | Private or local addresses (internal network) |
| Up to 2 MB per page | Pages whose text only appears with JavaScript |
EducPilot’s server fetches the page without your cookies: what you see signed in is not what it sees.
What happens to the page
- The main content is extracted. Menus, footers, scripts and forms are left out; the page title becomes the document’s name.
- The text is split into pages of about 3,000 characters, so the video can cite “p. 2” as with a PDF.
- The assistant cites it like any source, reading it when writing rather than from memory.
- The assistant can also search. When your documents do not cover a question, it can search the web, preferring official sites, then add the pages it relies on to the project’s documents. It tells you which. A search snippet is never cited.
Two real examples
- Kerno (video above). Two public pages, from the FIDO Alliance and Google, on passkeys became a 1 min 31 s video to train a fictional SaaS company’s customers.
- Groupe Lunéa. A French government cyber fraud guide and an FBI advisory became a 1 min 08 s vertical video. See its article.
Frequently asked questions
Can we use a page from our intranet?
No: EducPilot only fetches public pages. Export the page to PDF or copy its text, then add it to the project.
Is the original site cited in the video?
Every statement is linked to its source page in the editor, which is what review relies on. To show the source on screen, ask the assistant or annotate the scene (“show the source”).
Can we reuse content from any site?
You remain responsible for the site’s rights: citing and summarising official information is not reproducing protected content. Check the site’s reuse terms, especially for its visuals.
